BAUBLEBAR Necklace // Art Deco + Pastel Coral

April 23, 2013

meg biram of megbiram.com/blog wearing bauble bar coral art deco necklace

When BaubleBar emailed me a photo of this Melon Deco Strand Necklace I immediately thought it was the perfect marriage between art deco and spring pastel coral. They knew I’d love it and they were right. At $38 it’s super affordable too. Because I wanted the necklace to be the standout item in the photo, I paired it with my trusty gray Vince top (similar).

Hello, Lover // Red Sweatshirt by Manifesto

February 28, 2013

dallas shaw

I’m so excited to start sharing some photos of some gals wearing the lover sweatshirt from February’s MANIFESTO release. The lover sweatshirt was released on Valentine’s Day, and is limited edition (psst, there are only 20 or less left in each size!). The inside is super cozy and soft, perfect for these snowy months. I’ve literally been wearing mine every other day. The sweatshirt is a unisex size, so I recommend getting your normal size and if it’s a little baggy then shrinking it in the dryer, or one size smaller than normal. I know some of you will ask me what size I wear for comparison, so I wear the XS if I want a close fit, and the S if I want it a little baggier/longer — if that helps at all. Also, just FYI, the evolve tees are almost out — the M is sold out and there are less than 8 left in the other sizes.

DALLAS // Dilly Dallas

Can we talk about how cute Dallas looks in her lover sweatshirt! I love that she paired it with turquoise heels! So fun! Dallas is an uber talented lady. Make sure to check her out if you aren’t familiar already! Huge thanks to Dallas for her post & photos! (Photos of Dallas by Alison Conklin)

FASHION // BETH DOES BRIGHT COLORS

February 19, 2013

I think Beth is ready for spring! She is back with black, white, and brights! — Meg

bright yellow jacket
Black & white is undoubtedly the trend of trends this Spring. I cannot deny my love of its simplicity; however, I have a serious love affair with bright colors.  Fortunately for us, both are spot on for spring. Moral of the story, don’t be afraid to sport them solo or combine the two. While you’re at it, throw in a little surprise like this leather tee — either way, you can’t go wrong! Make it a good one, gang! Continue reading…

MY FASHION LINE LAUNCH — MANIFESTO

January 15, 2013

shopyourmanifesto.com

I’ve always wanted to have a product line. I wanted something to market beyond my website & consulting that was fully my aesthetic. I wasn’t set on designing the product line myself, but just waiting for the perfect idea to hit me (been waiting for years). I’ve tried a few things in the past, but nothing was really right.

When the concept for MANIFESTO hit me — I knew I had to do it. I fleshed out the idea and knew it was something I could do in addition to everything else I’ve got going on. It came to me out of my search for the perfect comfy tee that can be dressed up or down, taken from day into night, throw on a jacket, necklace, and heels and you are out the door.

I’ve found lots of great plain tees that I will continue to wear, but I wanted something with a bit of design (I love a good rocker tee, or a tee from college that is perfectly worn in and has shrunk just right). Words or phrases on shirts are “trendy” right now but I wanted something with meaning behind it — not just a trendy saying. A word or phrase where every time you wear that shirt it inspires you, or means something to you, or makes you smile, or makes you simply think.

BAM — a manifesto. A written statement declaring intentions, motives or views.

I also wanted a shirt that not everyone and their mom could buy — not because it’s extremely expensive for a super soft fashion tee, but because it is LIMITED EDITION. So I had it — a limited edition, soft and comfy, fashion top (tee, tank, sweatshirt) with a meaningful word or phrase. Yes.

So how does the limited edition thing work? Each month — starting with January — there will be a word or phrase for that month. That style/word will be limited edition, so once they sell out they’re gone. And each month a new word/phrase/style will come out. 12 months in a year — 12 limited edition tops a year.

So what’s the first word!?! A word that embodies the beginning of a new year — evolve. It is something that rang true for me this past year that I want to keep in mind all year long. So much so that I wore my evolve tee on New Year’s Eve to kick off 2013. I wear it to yoga. I wear it while working. And I wear it out. This year — I will evolve.

Each month’s word or phrase, can be your own manifesto. The word is up to your own interpretation. So when I asked 9 friends of mine to don their evolve tee and tell me what evolve meant to them — it was nothing but inspiring.

This tee is a super soft, black heather with a high v-neck. The word evolve is my own handwriting and is screen printed in gold metallic ink. You can get yours on the MANIFESTO website (here) while they are available. See sizing info to the right of the item, and in the additional photos. (No the shirt is not wrinkled like that — it’s just for fun.)

Follow MANIFESTO: website / twitter / instagram / facebook / lookbook

If you purchase a top from MANIFESTO — I want to see it! Please tag @ManifestoTs on twitter/instagram and each month the hashtag will be the word or phrase = this month is #evolve (you can also tag me at @megbiram if you like). I’ll feature some of them on the MANIFESTO facebook page and maybe even here on The Edit.

See how 9 of my lovely blogger friends styled their shirts below, and make sure to see more photos & what evolve means to them in the January Lookbook.

Dressing Dossier // 6 Holiday Party Outfits

December 11, 2012

Now that you know your Shopping Personality — Jenna is back with 6 festive outfits to give you some ideas for all of your holiday parties. — Meg

work holiday outfit

‘Tis the season to look your best.  Here are three holiday occasions where the seasonal dress code varies slightly. When faced with ‘what to wear?’ to an upcoming fête be festive, be fun, be yourself. As with any occasion you dress for, keep in mind the location as well as the company you will keep.

WORK HOLIDAY PARTY

Work environments are different for all of us. Co-workers + cocktails outside the office might be something you dread. Maybe you have a “fun” office where a holiday party will feel like an extension of your social life. You’ve heard this before: a work soirée is no place to pass on professionalism. Trust — all that glitters isn’t gold the next morning by the fax machine, or at your next review.  Keep it classy.  That doesn’t mean drab — express yourself in some of the season’s best trends (velvet, lace, embellished skirts, oxblood, patterns, metallics) in a tasteful way.  You want to feel confident … you never know what kind of networking situation will arise.
