8 FAVES FROM LULU & GEORGIA

May 29, 2013

lulu and georgia

I don’t know if you remember before Lulu & Georgia was open — but the teasers of the branding had everyone excited for what was in store. The illustration by Inslee (below) of the gals holding the rug made you want to know what they were up to. The site got so much traffic the first day it crashed! They quickly fixed it and I don’t think anyone minded. Not a bad problem to have if you ask me…

You know I’m always excited about entrepreneurs (especially women!) so of course I love watching other female entrepreneurs have success, like ladies at Lulu & Georgia.

The Ankara Poufs go perfectly with my decor (below). They are sturdy but cushy, so you can use them in many ways — for extra seating, to prop up your feet, or as a side table (add a tray or some books). Currently I’ve got them in my living room, but I think they will continue to float around the condo as needed. Continue reading…

Fashion Illustrated // NYFW Marc Jacobs Fall 2013

March 7, 2013

nyfw 2013 marc jacobs // blair breitenstein for megbiram.com

If you haven’t had enough of New York Fashion Week already (and now all of the other ones in Europe), Blair is here with an illustration inspired by the Fall 2013 Marc Jacobs show. I wish I could get my fizzy hair to look as good as it did on the runway!

Blair says, “Sometimes you have to take yourself out of your comfort zone. I chose to paint one of my favorite looks by Marc Jacobs at NYFW because I loved the bold pattern and big hair (I LOVE BIG HAIR). Since I don’t normally incorporate fancy pattern, I thought why not? I also love how oxblood red is still a trend!”

Did you have a favorite look/designer from NYFW?

If so, leave me a link in the comments so I can check it out.

Link Love // In My Bag Illustration

March 2, 2013

emmakisstina

Stockholm-based illustrator Kristina featured a What’s In My Bag & did this adorable illustration (above)! In my kate spade bag: Rebecca Minkoff wallet (sold out in gray ostrich, similar); Blair Ritchey pencil case (I keep all my lip products in it); kate spade card holder; Pilot pens — Extra Fine (but don’t take them with you on a plane — mine always explode); Sharpie pens; Felt-tip pens (I love pens); fresh sugar lip treatment (seriously amazing); Radiant Cosmetics lipstick in Charlotte; Calvin Klein Euphoria (my “scent”); Smith’s Rosebud Salve; L’Occitane hand cream; and I always carry Blink eyedrops.

I can’t wait for Becca’s line to come out! Here’s a few behind the scenes shots.

I have to make these Tangerine Sorbet Champagne Floats!

I’m dying to see more of Cassie & Kyle’s trip to South Africa!

Last night I got pretty far into reading Wild by Cheryl Strayed before my Sleepytime Tea kicked in — I’m already sucked in to this book. (I drink some sort of Sleepy Tea almost every night).

Caitlin launched her new website and Design in a Box service — so beautiful!

I’ve been thinking really hard about finding a studio/workspace in DC to share with a few other gals that also work from home (so if you know of anything cute in the Farragut area let me know) — so Kathleen’s post is timely for me.

I can’t get enough of Victoria’s pup Lucy. Look at that face!

Do you have a white bag? I’m so nervous to get one — afraid my jeans will rub on it or something.

Loving Jessie’s tomboy style.

I have personally ALWAYS been a huge fan of doughnuts (cupcakes were never my fave), so the fact that they are now the new “hip” dessert comes as no surprise to me as I feel they are far superior to cupcakes. I’m glad the Bitches Who Brunch agree.

I love learning what beauty products people use consistently — Camille reveals hers here.

One of my FIRLs (friends-in-real-life) shared a big announcement.

I’m hoping to hit the beaches of Miami for my 30th coming up here in a month-ish, so I’m taking all of Erika’s advice to heart.

What were some of your favorite things around the web this week? Leave a link in the comments so I can check them out!

FASHION ILLUSTRATIONS // Valentine’s Day

February 12, 2013

fashion illustration // blair breitenstein for megbiram.com

If I had a favorite child, it would be Blair, my resident fashion illustrator. She’s just sick talented and her drawings always amaze me. Today she’s done a few Valentine’s Day girls for us inspired by hot pink, red lips, the bows from kate spade new york fashion week, and sweetheart necklines. Just try to stop staring at these drawings … it’s hard.
