Being honored at an event called “Style Setters,” I wanted to don an outfit that was stylish (of course) but edgy and timeless at the same time. I ended up finding this black cutout dress — one of those you try on in the store, think really hard about, don’t buy (for some crazy reason), continue to think about it for a few days, and of course end up going back for. Which is exactly what I did.
Because the dress was black, I was able to keep my options for accessories, a clutch and shoes open. Due to the cutouts in the dress — what made it edgy and cool in my mind — I didn’t want to take away from that with a necklace, so I wanted some killer earrings. I’m not usually one for sparkle, but this was one of those nights where I could pull off some major sparkle.
I love giant cocktail rings and I found the perfect one at a vintage shop in Georgetown. Not only did it go with this outfit, but I can wear it with just about anything I want to fancy up a little.
The second I saw this clutch I knew it was the perfect one for me. I loved the geometric pattern, especially since it was in black, gold, and silver. It’s like a piece of art and a clutch. Definitely something to keep out on display.
As for the shoes, since they were mostly covered by the long dress, I wanted something that was not terribly painful and could be a staple in my wardrobe. These gold crackle heels were seriously so comfortable. I walked several blocks (in the heat) in them, and then stood for 5 hours without any pain — and it was the first time I’d ever worn them. #winner Continue reading…
