Today we have the interior design duo, Beth and Carolina, from Pulp Design Studios. This duo works out of Dallas and Seattle and is with us today with some advice on how to dress up your everyday pieces in your house with decorative hardware. I agree ladies, it’s something so simple that can completely update a piece of furniture or cabinets! — Meg

With any good fashion or design ensemble, the accessories can make or break a look. You can dress up a little black dress with an amazing statement necklace or let your outfit shine with perfectly understated jewelry. The same is true for your furniture. At Pulp Design Studios, one of our favorite ways to create a unique look is by customizing with hardware. It’s an affordable way to elevate your furniture without breaking the bank.
Our
Pulp Home starburst pulls have been known to stop a few heads. In our client’s powder bath above an understated piece of furniture was converted, turning it into a functional vanity piece. The addition of our custom starburst hardware pull with a drop ring created an instant sense of luxury. We also added these starburst pulls to a custom upholstered credenza we designed and it was an absolute show stopper. You can add these dynamic pulls, which are now a part of our line of home goods, to any door or drawer front to create instant drama.
Anthropologie is quickly becoming a go-to source for unique hardware for the everyday consumer. One of our favorite pulls from Anthro is their
Ripe Melon Pull. This pull can add a bit of modern romance to your space. We added the to one client’s nightstands, purchased from Pottery Barn and painted them a shade of vermilion, for an affordable custom look. We also added them to a retro-fitted bathroom vanity to modernize a more traditional piece.
Who doesn’t need a little glitz and glam in their life? These
crystal knobs are always a favorite for our custom pieces. They’re simple, affordable, and easy to install. They can work with any piece from traditional to modern.
Let’s not forget that great hardware need not be limited to doors and drawers! We reupholstered a pair of art deco chairs for our client and added a little personality with this
lion head knocker.
With some creativity and the right drill, you can instantly update your pieces, achieve a luxe look for less, showcase your individuality.
