Last night I went to an event at the newly renovated Juicy Couture in Georgetown. Admittedly I haven’t been in the store since I moved to DC, and when I think of Juicy I think of pink and sparkly — not exactly my style. But I must say I was pleasantly surprised at some of the gorgeous clothing. The remodel made the store into what feels like a giant girlie glam walk in closet. I ended up coming home with this Ziger Cardigan Coat. It’s basically a giant cozy sweater that I can see myself wearing pretty much every day. Besides the fact that it’s super warm, it’s also super easy. I saw a winter uniform in my head immediately — leather leggings (see 5 styles below), black boots, and layering a short initial necklace with a longer necklace. I can comfortably wear this outfit while working from home, but if I’m heading out for a coffee or lunch, I can jet out the door without thinking about it.
I’m definitely a uniform girl when it comes to outfits. I have certain things I know I like together and I wear them. All the time. Each season I think about the items I’d like in my uniform that season, I’ll purchase those items and then wear the heck out of them. This is also how I justify purchasing more expensive/quality items, because I know I’ll wear the heck out of them. I’d rather have one perfect pair of leather leggings that make me feel like a million bucks, than three that are just OK. This past summer my husband even said, man you wear those coral jeans a lot. Like I said … uniform.
If you are looking for a chic trendy staple item for this winter I think some sort of leather (or faux leather) leggings are just the thing. I have two pairs that I constantly reach for. Here are five pairs at all different price points you might want to try out. I actually have a pair from BCBG that have faux leather panels like the ones here — love them.
